Why Acupuncture

People ask me why acupuncture, asking both the question of why should they use it and why did I choose it as a practice.

I choose it as a practice for several reasons. I am very interested in psychology as well as healing and this offered me the opportunity to work with both the mind and the body. I also liked my choice in that it would be very difficult for me to harm someone. Certainly I could fail to heal them, but other than the occasional bruise, people would not walk out of my office permanently damaged by acupuncture.

Why should anyone try acupuncture? Well, it works. It is proven pain relief for many conditions without all the side effects of a variety of medications. It's not addictive. It's actually very relaxing for the people who do it. I do have a patient who might argue that it *is* addictive as she likes how it feels.

One of my patients described the feeling she got as having an internal massage.

Anyone who has run the gamut of western medicine and isn't getting better should consider trying acupuncture. We have a whole different paradigm that we are working with. It's a safe and effective medicine that is typically fairly low cost.
